Viper vs. Avital Remote Car Starters — Which One Is The Best?
I have always been a big fan of remote car starters. Simply because it makes my life easier. I no longer have to worry about my car, having a handy remote car starter helps me to locate and remote start it easily. That is not the only purpose of a remote car starter, I will lay them down in a bit.
I understand that it can be a little tricky to find the best remote car starter for you. To make things easier, I will be comparing the two popular brands Viper and Avital in this article. I hope this will help you decide later on to get the most fitting remote car starter for you.
Viper- Smart Start
Viper has been one of the most popular manufacturers of remote car kits so I am not surprised why it has been receiving good customer feedback. I have Viper remote kits in some of my cars and I have to say I am very satisfied with them but that’s just me. Before you say that I’m being biased about it, let me give you a lowdown on what the Viper products have to offer.
Viper knows its customers very well giving them ease and comfort in just a click of a button.
Viper SmartStart Connects Your Car like never before, providing an entirely new level of 2-way interaction with your vehicle. Connectivity is managed through our cloud services network linking car and app.
Control multiple vehicles with a single account “ great for families!” and assign more than one user to control a vehicle.
If you have an iPhone, you can also download the SmartStart App and use it to connect to your car. Sounds cool right? It is also compatible to the new Smart Watch so you can use it just the same.
The great thing is I can remote start my car few minutes before I leave for work and since I live in Florida, my car’s temperature is just right when I get inside. This goes the same for those who experience winter, use Viper SmartStart and you’re all warm and comfortable when you’re in your car.

Nothing major here really, only on the aesthetic side. The screen gets scratched easily but it can be fixed by placing a plastic cover you can buy cheaply in computer stores.
Avital Remote Car Starter
We talked about Viper, now let’s focus our attention to an equally good brand of remote car starters, Avital. They have been industry long enough to understand the needs of their customers. Their products are remote car starters and security systems in one.
Admit it, we all get nervous with the number of car thefts happening these days. Instinctively, we want to be protected and avoid such situations to happen to us. We look for ways to protect ourselves and our cars for that matter but sometimes we are at a loss. Avital gives you that sense of security.
Avital® delivers the ultimate auto security value and performance by integrating high-technology and state-of-of-the-art microprocessor circuitry to produce exceptional remote controlled vehicle security systems that are as easy to use as they are affordable.
Some of its products like the Avital 2-Way LCD Remote Start with Security protects your car from being a victim of “hot-wiring”. It also has the Zone 2 impact sensor which can detect blows or impact to your vehicle. The AVITAL 5303L Security/Remote Start System is also a good choice if you’re looking for the basic. You can read more about it in this article I wrote.
- Remote Start & Keyless Entry
- Dual Zone Shock Sensor
- Panic Mode will sound off alarm and flash your parking lights
- Short run will allow your car to run from 1, 3, 5, 10 minutes
Some customer reviews state that the remote can be faulty at times. If you also install it yourself, the warranty is voided. It has to be installed by a registered installer from Avital for the warranty to be considered.
There you have it. Two good brands on the remote car starters. They have more or less the same set of features so choose something that appeals more to you. Either way, you get a winner.
